Describe the most compelling aspect of the book: The writing style. Beautiful writing, made me keep reading.
Should this be nominated for Teens' Top Ten? Why? Yes. Dealt with death without making you want to commit suicide.
Rating? 4 Better than most
Lennie is 17 years old when her older sister Bailey suddenly and unexpectedly dies. Most of the book talks about how Lennie copes with her grief, but the real story focuses on Lennie’s two romantic interests. One is the new boy in town Joe, straight from Paris and who seems to be eternally happy. Joe makes her forget her grief for a little while, but at the same time she feels awful that there can be happiness in a world without Bailey. The other is Bailey’s boyfriend, Toby. He seems to be the only one who understands her but how can she date her sister’s boyfriend? I really enjoyed this book mostly because the writing is beautiful, and it dealt with death seriously without becoming mind numbingly depressing. 8 ½ out of 10.
Cover comments: I liked the cover but I did not see what a rose petal to do with the sky.

Additional Comments /Review: I found it compleatly unique and unlike anything I have ever read. Part comic part novel Malice is about two teens Seth and Kady. There friend Luke disappers after saying the chant that supposidly brings Tall Jake to take you into Malice. Seth then journeys into Malice after him. Besides its appel as part book part comic Malice was in my opinion delightfully dark. The story had everything a good book should as well as an amazing author that masterfully made the suspense in this book peak. Bottom line amazing book read it.

Describe the most compelling aspect of the book: Olivia Larson was a very real girl going through a very real hardship with a little unreal help. It was definantly a pulling read, and that made it very compelling.
Rating? 4 Better than most
Additional Comments/ Review: Olivia Larson has to live with something most teens would shudder to think about: the death of her twin sister. They had been inseperable since birth, doing everything together, going everywhere together. But one summer that all changed. Olivia's parents decide to move to San Fransico, leaving behind everything Olivia ever knew. She tries to make friends, but it's not easy. Everyone learns about her sister Violet's death, and then they have no idea how to react. Her mother tries to make her fit in. One night she tells everyone she's bringing Olivia to an office party. Olivia has nothing to wear (isn't that a comman thing with girls?) so she does something she never thought she'd do. She takes one of her sister's dresses to a dressmakers to be fixed. The dressmaker, a mysterious girl named Posey, agrees to fix the dress. But the dress Olivia gets in return is not Violet's dress. It is a strange black dress with a silver butterfly on it. Olivia no choice but to wear it. After an aweful evening, she whispers "I wish I had my sister back." The butterfly seems to fly off her dress and into the night. As you can imagine, Olivia is pretty freaked out. Imagine how much more freaked out she is when she wakes up to find her wish come true.....in a sense. (Don't worry, this all happens in the first few chapters, I'm not giving anything major away.) This book was full of paradoxes. For example, it was funny, but sad at the same time. The story line is fantistical, but seems as if it could happen in real life. I loved this book. I think anyone, boy or girl, young or old will enjoy it. That said, I have to admit there were a few unnessecary words and a few bottles of underage beer. Othere then those slight mars, this was a beautifully touching book.

Fever Crumb

Describe the most compelling aspect of the book: Fever is an unusual and unfimiliar character that nevers does what you expect her to do.

Rating? 4 Better than most When your reading a book, you sometimes think "this reminds me of this other book," or movie, or whatever. You won't be able to do that with Fever Crumb. It is truly unlike any other book I've ever read.

Annotation: Fever Crumb is a young girl growing up in a future London. Aparently shortly after the end of the 21 century, a strange race of monsters known as Scriven arrived in London, killing and seizing control. Then, years later, the humans revolted and killed the misshapes, as they are sometimes called. During the riots, a scientist named Dr. Crumb found a little baby girl with two different colored eyes. Fearing that the leaders of London would mistake her for a mishape (which is anyone who isn't perfectly normal), he takes her back to the order of Engineers. No girl had ever been trained-before Fever, of course- as an engineer. For 14 years, everything is just peachy. But one day, Fever gets asked to asist one Kit Solent with a top secret project. Someone sees her miscolored eyes and starts a panic about the Scriven returning. Fear is brought to an even higher state when it reaches London that a group of unknown people are nearing the city, intentions unknown as well. The only one who may be able to save London is the one girl who all Londoners hate: Fever Crumb.
Additional Comments: I felt this book was fmailiar and similar to a few books, but truly unlike them in so many ways. The characters were fresh and 3-D, up close and in person. This book was a page-turner, even if you don't notice it at first. Amazing read.
